And so it begins...

It was the perfect day. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and Heaven was aglow (in my eyes at least). It was the day that my husband and I decided to hop  on a plane and elope in Vegas! This day was  HUGE for me not only because I was (finally) getting married after six years of dating, not only because we literally hadn't told anyone about our plans to wed, not only because I would be leaving my job my apartment and my friends, but it was the day that I became the Pastor’s Wife. This was a term that had been deemed upon me in high school (i’ll share that story with you another time) and I was scared to  hold for years. Many told me this was a term that i would one day inherit, but October 13, 2013 at 1:00pm in a little chapel in Vegas this label became my reality.
Now many of you may be wondering why I said i was “scared” to hold this role and this is why. It seems as though all I heard about being a Pastor’s Wife was  N E G A T I V E. “Girl, your husband won’t have any time for you, he’s going to be with the congregation ALL the time,” or “mmm… mmmm…. you’re going to have have to change the way you walk, talk and act, because in the role of a pastor’s wife people aren't going to accept you the way you are,” or my absolute favorite, ” So are you going to sing, or play the piano or teach sabbath school because you know your going to have to do one of them!!” Upon the comments I heard horror, upon horror stories of things people “in the church” would do and say to pastor’s and their families.  I always pictured a pastor’s wife as a shy and timid person- not me.  I pictured them to women that wore turtle necks and floor length skirts in 90 degree weather- not me. And the scariest thing was that i pictured them as not having their own identity- not at all me. So how in the world is it that the Lord would see fit that this loud and boisterous girl from Chicago was deemed fit to be the first lady of a church?
I’m here to let you all know the role of being a pastor’s wife has been one of the best blessings God has given me. Our congregation is wonderful, loving, supportive, and most importantly they love me for me!
The purpose of this blog is to highlight the joy that is associated with being a pastor’s wife from the eyes of the new generation. It’s a positive place for us to come and uplift one another. It’s a place for us to share our blessings, not our curses, our pleasures not our pain, and our love and not our hate. The number one rule of this blog is that there is to be absolutely no negativityIf you are like me, you've heard all the horror stories… but i’m here to tell you ladies, this blog ain’t it. I’m only 5 months into this role, and i don’t claim to have all the answers, but together we can grow, learn, and mature in our relationship with God, one pastor’s wife at a time.
I hope you all enjoy my PW Swag.
